the one with a sarongpartygirl

i don't understand the public/society's 'infatuation' with sarongpartygirl. what is the big deal? almost weekly now (which started off as a daily thing), i'll flip open the pages of The Straits Times and read an article about sarongpartygirl's blog entries and her nude pictures.

what is all the fuss about?

i've been reading SPG's blog since early this year (courtesy of bloghopping) and i've always been intrigued by what she has to say and what she has done. it's really refreshing to read about something more exciting than the blog staple/routine of "...go down orchard rd today. met frens for movies. so good the batman show. all should go watch! .." that has been in almost every blog i read. SPG is like a breath of fresh air. i love how she writes. but nobody cares to pay attention to the core of what she's writing about. all they care about is to focus on her nude pictures and her raunchy, lascivious sexcapades.

and then we turn around and question such daring entries. "...what will our small children think?.. what if my kid brother stumble upon her naked pics and start a porn addiction?". clearly, as singaporeans, we have shifted our focus and not address the issue altogether!

everybody is talking about it. even the ah peks at the coffee shops. through all these ruckus i can't help but to wonder, as a cosmopolitan city-state, have we regressed rather than progress?

let's sit down and think about what allegations we, as an open-minded city state, are making towards this 17 year old girl.

first of all, we are claiming that her wanton acts of promiscuity is unbecoming of an asian woman and that she undermines the very essence and values that each of the singaporean asian woman lives for - that sex is sacred.

i've never heard more bullcrap than that. perhaps you are still living in your ideallic world, where kids do not have sex before marriage. open your eyes! wake up and smell the coffee. this is the 21st century. sex isn't really a big thing. that is not to say that we are cheapening ourselves or that all of us are sluts but think about it. so many of us teenagers are having sex at such young age and never tell a soul. and the reason for that is due to the social stigma surrounding sex before marriage. SPG has got some balls and she's not afraid to let it hang loose (i apologise for the language). this is a girl who is having sex and is not afraid of writing about it. and why should she? it's her life. she has every right to do what she wants.

what if small children stumble onto her blog and see her naked pictures. what if they have a porn addiction? what will we tell our child?

i firmly believe that parents are sheltering their children a little bit too much. for heaven sake, are you that naive? what are the chances of a five year old or ten year old stumbling onto her blog as oppose to googling the word "breasts" or "sex" on the internet? hello!?!? how silly can these allegations get? before you say something and be quoted in the papers, please take a step back and think through carefully. rather than appearing as a concerned parent/sibling/individual, you have just come across as naive, silly fool who has nothing better to say.

honestly, why are we so caught up in SPG's blog entries or her nude pictures. isn't that what the internet is all about?! freedom? she's not defaming any organisation or writing racist comments. he pictures are not at all pornographic or grossly insulting. we rave and marvel at the works of botticelli, natoire and pellegrini in their portrayal of the naked aphrodite and we scorn at artistically taken naked pictures posted on a blog? we seriously need to re-evaluate ourselves. what is the different? won't children who stumble upon such pictures of aphrodite become unwittingly addicted to porn? -roll eyes-

many think that SPG is stupid in posting naked pictures of herself and having sex with too many men. many believed that she's just being used by these caucasian men to quench their thirst of sex with the exotic asian women, the doll of pornography.

and what makes you think that SPG is that naive??

the men she has sex with are objectified in her blogs. she's living her life like a man would - go to parties, drink, have sex and then brag about it. if men can do it, why can't women? it's really funny how this world works.

what's even funnier is that this entry is written by me - a man. well, i'm gay so i have this affinity for women. haha! so shoot me. women should be allowed to have sex and publish it whenever the hell they want to! and that's that!
